Examining nerve function and exercise response in chronic low back pain
Comparing Sensory Nerve Conduction and Quantitative Sensory Testing Thresholds Between Matched Patients With Nonspecific Low Back Pain Categorized as Responders or Non-Responders to Exercise Therapy
This study is testing how nerve function affects the success of a 12-week exercise program for people with chronic low back pain.

What this trial studies
This observational study compares sensory nerve function in chronic low back pain patients who are matched for baseline pain and disability levels. Participants will complete a 12-week tailored exercise program, after which they will be classified as responders or non-responders based on their outcomes. The study will measure sensory nerve conduction and pain thresholds to investigate the relationship between nerve function and exercise therapy response. The goal is to understand how baseline sensory nerve dysfunction may affect the effectiveness of exercise therapy in these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 20-60 with nonspecific chronic low back pain lasting more than three months and significant baseline pain and disability.
Not a fit: Patients with radicular leg pain, prior lumbar surgery, or serious spinal pathology may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify which patients are more likely to benefit from exercise therapy for chronic low back pain.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on exercise therapy for chronic low back pain, this specific focus on sensory nerve function and its impact on therapy response is relatively novel.
