What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among monks and nuns in Egypt. A total of 400 participants, aged 24 and older, will be randomly selected from various monasteries. The study will categorize participants based on their years of monasticism and will utilize the Arabic version of the Nordic questionnaire to collect data. The focus is on individuals with a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9 kg/m2, excluding those with prior musculoskeletal abnormalities or surgeries.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are monks and nuns aged 24 and older with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 kg/m2.
Not a fit: Patients with congenital or traumatic musculoskeletal abnormalities or those who have undergone previous surgeries involving the locomotor system may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in a unique population, potentially guiding targeted interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies focusing specifically on monks and nuns, similar observational studies on musculoskeletal disorders have shown success in identifying prevalence and risk factors.
