What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the relationship between fundamental movement skills (FMS), body mass index (BMI), and quality of life in Egyptian school-aged children. A total of 216 children aged 5-7 years participated, with FMS assessed using the Test of Gross Motor Development-II (TGMD-II) and BMI calculated from weight and height measurements. Quality of life was evaluated using the PedsQol scale, aiming to understand how these factors interact in the context of early childhood obesity.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are normal school-aged children between 5-7 years old, regardless of their weight category.
Not a fit: Children with visual or auditory problems or those who have undergone lower limb surgery within the past year may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how improving movement skills may enhance the quality of life for overweight children.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies examining aspects of movement skills and obesity, this specific investigation into the interplay of FMS, BMI, and quality of life in this demographic is relatively novel.
