What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the presence of metacognitive beliefs in adolescent females aged 12 to 17 who have eating and nutrition disorders (END). Participants will be compared to a control group of the same age and sex from the general population. The study focuses on understanding how metacognitive factors, such as brooding and rumination, relate to these disorders. The research will involve observing various factors associated with eating and nutrition disorders without any specific interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Italian females aged 12 to 17 diagnosed with eating and nutrition disorders.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have eating and nutrition disorders or are outside the specified age range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the cognitive processes involved in eating disorders, potentially leading to improved treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on metacognitive beliefs in this demographic may be novel, related studies on cognitive factors in eating disorders have shown promising results.
