What this trial studies
This research analyzes the liver safety of statin use among inpatients in the neurology department of a hospital in China through a cross-sectional and retrospective cohort study. It aims to gather evidence on the adverse reactions associated with statins, particularly focusing on their impact on liver health. By evaluating patients hospitalized with cerebrovascular diseases, headaches, and dizziness, the study seeks to provide valuable insights for clinical practices regarding statin prescriptions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include hospitalized patients aged 18 to 85 with specific neurological conditions such as cerebrovascular disease, headaches, or dizziness.
Not a fit: Patients with incomplete medical histories, recent statin use of less than 7 days, or those with malignant or hematological diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of statin safety in neurology patients, leading to better clinical guidelines and patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into statin safety, this specific focus on neurology inpatients is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
