What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the prevalence and risk factors of intimate partner violence among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Sweden, particularly focusing on the experiences of women who inject drugs (WWID). The study aims to gather data from participants enrolled in needle and syringe programs (NSP) to understand the health risks associated with injection drug use and the impact of gender-based violence. By analyzing the experiences of PWID, the study seeks to highlight the intersection of drug use and intimate partner violence, providing insights into the challenges faced by this vulnerable population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older who are actively injecting drugs and participating in a needle syringe program.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, heavily intoxicated, or experiencing psychosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could inform targeted interventions to reduce intimate partner violence and improve health outcomes for people who inject drugs.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on intimate partner violence and drug use exist, this specific focus on PWID in Sweden may provide novel insights into an under-researched area.
