Examining immune cells in children with ADHD

Immunoprofilling of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells in Children With Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University · NCT06109337

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the immune cell landscape of peripheral blood mononuclear cells in children diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) compared to typically developing controls. It will analyze differences in immune cell subpopulations, protein expression, and signaling pathways using advanced mass spectrometry flow cytometry technology. Additionally, the study will correlate immune function with cognitive assessments and brain imaging results to better understand the relationship between immune profiles and ADHD symptoms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children diagnosed with ADHD who have an IQ of 70 or above.

Not a fit: Patients with schizophrenia, mood disorders, autism, or significant physical and nervous system abnormalities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the immune mechanisms underlying ADHD, potentially leading to new therapeutic strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of examining immune profiles in ADHD is relatively novel, similar studies in other conditions have shown promising results.
