Examining how physical activity and hormones affect metabolism in women
Effects of the Interaction Between Physical Activity Level and Hormonal Status on Energy Metabolism and Nutritional Responses in Women
University Hospital, Clermont-Ferrand · NCT05944653

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the relationship between physical activity levels, hormonal status, and energy metabolism in women aged 18 to 44 with a normal BMI. It aims to address the cardiometabolic risks associated with obesity in women of childbearing age, a demographic often overlooked in research. By focusing on the natural hormonal variations throughout the menstrual cycle, the study seeks to provide insights into how these factors influence nutritional responses and overall health. The findings could help inform better health strategies for women before menopause.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 18 to 44 with a BMI between 18 and 25 who are not pregnant or lactating.
Not a fit: Patients with irregular menstrual cycles, those undergoing weight loss, or women who are perimenopausal or postmenopausal may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved health strategies for women, potentially reducing obesity-related health risks.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting this demographic, studies on hormonal influences on metabolism have shown promising results, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
