What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the connection between pelvic floor muscle (PFM) function and self-perceived PFM contraction in relation to chronic hip pain among women. It includes two groups: women experiencing hip-related pain for over three months and a control group of women without hip pain. Participants will undergo various assessments, including abdominal ultrasound for PFM evaluation, muscle strength testing, and questionnaires to assess incontinence symptoms and anxiety levels. The goal is to better understand how pelvic floor health may influence hip pain and related symptoms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include women with chronic hip pain lasting more than three months and those without any hip pain for comparison.

Not a fit: Patients with specific hip joint conditions or recent surgeries, as well as those who have undergone pelvic floor treatment in the last year, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the management of hip pain in women by highlighting the importance of pelvic floor muscle function.

How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between pelvic floor function and hip pain is an emerging area of interest, this specific approach has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
