What this trial studies
This study qualitatively analyzes the approach of non-radiologists of varying seniority and specialties to interpreting CT body scans. Participants will be recorded as they review a pre-selected CT scan, and the data will undergo thematic analysis to identify patterns in their interpretation methods. The ultimate goal is to develop a resource that aids non-radiologists in identifying important pathologies on CT scans, addressing the gap in training and confidence in this area. The study is based on a survey indicating a strong need for educational resources in CT interpretation among junior doctors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are doctors currently working in UK NHS acute specialties, ranging from Foundation to Consultant levels.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-clinical doctors or radiologists will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the ability of non-radiologists to accurately interpret CT scans, leading to improved patient care.
How similar studies have performed: There are no similar studies in the literature focusing on how non-radiologists approach CT scans, making this a novel investigation.
