Examining how implant position and crown shape affect gum health
Association of Implant Position and Crown Contour With Esthetics and Tissue Health in Anterior Single Tooth Replacement: a Prospective Study

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between the position of dental implants and the shape of the crowns placed on them, focusing on their impact on gum health and inflammation. It will assess how these factors influence the presence of mucosal inflammation and deeper issues like peri-implantitis. By analyzing the three-dimensional positioning of implants and the resulting crown contours, the study seeks to identify patterns that correlate with healthy or inflamed tissue. The goal is to understand how these characteristics affect the microbial environment around dental implants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with a single implant-supported restoration in the anterior jaw region, adjacent to natural teeth, who have the necessary pre-surgery imaging and are willing to participate in follow-up appointments.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have systemic diseases contraindicating dental implants, or are unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved dental implant designs that enhance gum health and reduce inflammation.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research directly exploring this specific association, similar studies have indicated the importance of implant positioning and crown design in influencing peri-implant health.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: Patients with a single implant-supported restoration in anterior jaws (premolars to premolars), with adjacent natural teeth, with pre-surgery CBCT and intra-oral scans, and willing to comply with research appointments/schedule. Exclusion Criteria: * Pregnancy or intention to become pregnant at any point during the study duration; * With any systematic diseases/conditions that are contradictions to dental implant treatment; * Inability or unwillingness of individual to give written informed consent. * Inability of follow-up according to the protocol.
