What this trial studies
This study follows adult non-medical marijuana users and susceptible adolescents over four years to assess the impact of excise tax structures on marijuana consumption. Participants will engage in volumetric choice experiments where they select quantities of various marijuana products under simulated tax conditions. The study aims to capture evolving product varieties and preferences through repeated measures, allowing for causal identification of consumption behaviors. The findings could inform policy decisions regarding marijuana taxation and regulation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 21 and older who are recreational marijuana users and adolescents aged 15-20 who are susceptible to marijuana use.
Not a fit: Patients who do not use marijuana recreationally or those under 15 years of age will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights that help shape effective marijuana tax policies, potentially reducing harmful consumption patterns.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on marijuana consumption and taxation, this specific approach using volumetric choice experiments is relatively novel.
