What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the impact of attention on obsessive thoughts in individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using a newly developed scale called THOUGHTS. The study will recruit 40 OCD patients and 40 matched healthy subjects, both aged 15 and older, to evaluate their experiences of mind wandering and daydreaming in various everyday situations. By comparing the levels of obsessions in OCD patients across different contexts of attention, the research seeks to identify patterns that may inform treatment approaches. The study will be conducted at Albert Chenevier Hospital in Créteil.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 15 and older diagnosed with OCD, as well as matched healthy subjects without psychiatric conditions.
Not a fit: Patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or anorexia nervosa will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of OCD and lead to improved therapeutic strategies for managing obsessive thoughts.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using subjective measures of attention and thought patterns is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in understanding cognitive processes in OCD.
