What this trial studies

This research investigates the relationship between foot postures and the risk of falls among elderly individuals residing in nursing homes. The study aims to identify key factors that influence fall risk by assessing participants' cognitive status, balance, and foot posture using standardized tests. Participants will be categorized based on gender, health status, and medication use, with a minimum of 126 individuals required for robust statistical analysis. The findings will contribute to a future database aimed at enhancing fall risk assessment and prevention strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 65 and older who can complete cognitive and physical assessments without the need for assistive devices.

Not a fit: Patients who have significant mobility impairments, recent acute illnesses, or severe chronic conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved fall prevention strategies for elderly individuals, enhancing their safety and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored fall risks in older adults, this specific focus on foot posture is relatively novel and may provide new insights.
