Examining emergency department management for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients

The Association Between Post-resuscitation Time Series Management in the Emergency Department and Short-term Outcomes for Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest Patients

Observational National Taiwan University Hospital · NCT06165081

What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how the management of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients in the emergency department affects their short-term outcomes. Conducted by the National Taiwan University Hospital and its affiliated branches, the study analyzes a range of data from adult patients who were resuscitated after cardiac arrest. Key factors examined include patient demographics, medical history, prehospital care details, and the specifics of emergency department interventions. The goal is to identify effective management strategies that could improve survival rates and neurological outcomes for these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over the age of 20 who have experienced non-traumatic cardiac arrest and have been successfully resuscitated in the emergency department.

Not a fit: Patients who have experienced traumatic cardiac arrest or those with lost medical records will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved emergency management protocols that enhance survival and neurological outcomes for OHCA patients.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that timely and effective emergency management can significantly impact outcomes for cardiac arrest patients, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
