What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the outcomes of children under 6 years old who have sustained diaphyseal femoral fractures treated with skin traction. The focus is on assessing the absence of residual deformities three years post-treatment using EOS imaging technology. By analyzing the potential for bone remodeling in young patients, the study aims to confirm the effectiveness of this treatment method in achieving anatomical correction. The research is conducted at the CHU Amiens hospital department.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children under 6 years old who have experienced a unilateral traumatic femoral shaft fracture and have been treated with skin traction.

Not a fit: Patients with multiple fractures, pathological fractures, or a history of lower limb fractures may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide evidence supporting the effectiveness of skin traction in treating femoral fractures in young children, leading to improved treatment protocols.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on bone remodeling in children, this specific approach using EOS imaging for assessing outcomes after skin traction is relatively novel.
