What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of urinary, anorectal, and sexual disorders in patients diagnosed with functional neurological disorders (FND). Patients presenting to a neurology consultation will complete self-questionnaires to assess their sphincter functions. Those who report issues will be referred for a neuro-urological consultation, followed by necessary follow-up in neurology and neuro-urology. The goal is to better understand these symptoms to improve therapeutic options for affected patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with functional neurological disorders without any neurological comorbidities.

Not a fit: Patients with neurological comorbidities that could explain their sphincter disorders or those currently pregnant may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment options for patients suffering from bladder-sphincter disorders associated with functional neurological disorders.

How similar studies have performed: This study addresses a novel area of research, as no previous studies have specifically focused on bladder-sphincter disorders in patients with functional neurological disorders.
