What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the morphological characteristics of trunk and leg muscles in volleyball players with chronic ankle instability compared to those without. It aims to assess how these characteristics relate to explosive power and balance performance. The study includes 24 participants aged 14-35, with 12 having chronic ankle instability and 12 asymptomatic controls, following specific inclusion criteria. Data will be collected through field tests and assessments of muscle morphology.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are volleyball players aged 14-35 with chronic ankle instability or asymptomatic players who meet specific training criteria.

Not a fit: Patients who have undergone ankle or related surgeries, have bilateral ankle instability, or have recent musculoskeletal injuries may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of ankle instability in athletes and inform targeted rehabilitation strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored muscle morphology in athletes, this specific focus on chronic ankle instability in volleyball players is relatively novel.
