What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the flexibility of structures around the ankle in individuals aged 18-45 diagnosed with unilateral chronic ankle instability. Participants will undergo clinical evaluations, including the Functional Ankle Identification test and the Foot Posture Index, to determine the severity of their condition. The flexibility of various ankle-related muscles and tendons will be measured using a myotonometer, comparing the affected and unaffected sides. Demographic information will also be collected to better understand the population affected by this condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18-45 with a physician-diagnosed unilateral chronic ankle instability.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of lower extremity surgery or severe visual impairment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of chronic ankle instability, potentially enhancing rehabilitation strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored ankle instability, this specific focus on flexibility in chronic cases is relatively novel.
