What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the changes in the sagittal pharyngeal airway dimension and mandibular position in patients diagnosed with Class II Division 2 malocclusion following the leveling and alignment phase of orthodontic treatment. The participants will be adolescents aged 12 to 16 years who meet specific inclusion criteria, including having a deep bite and full permanent dentition. The study will involve measuring airway dimensions before and after the orthodontic intervention to assess any significant changes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 12 to 16 years with Class II Division 2 malocclusion and specific dental characteristics.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone orthodontic treatment or have severe TMJ issues or craniofacial anomalies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how orthodontic treatment affects airway dimensions, potentially improving breathing and overall health in affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies specifically targeting this demographic and condition, similar orthodontic interventions have shown promising results in improving airway dimensions.
