Evaluation of spine movement during walking
Development of New Multifactorial Functional Evaluation Protocols and Related Indices for the Pediatric Age - Gait Spine Evaluation Protocol
This study is testing a new way to track how the spine moves while walking in both healthy people and those with scoliosis to better understand how it affects overall movement.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to develop and validate a new protocol for assessing the kinematics of spinal and total body movements during walking using an optoelectronic motion analysis system. The study will involve healthy participants and those with idiopathic scoliosis, who will perform walking trials while reflective markers are placed on their bodies. The main objectives include evaluating the feasibility, reliability, and usability of the developed protocol for analyzing spine movement. This innovative approach seeks to enhance understanding of spine dynamics in relation to overall locomotion.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy individuals without spine pathology and patients diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis who can walk independently.
Not a fit: Patients with motor impairments affecting their gait may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with spine-related conditions.
How similar studies have performed: While traditional methods have been used for gait analysis, this specific protocol for integrated spine kinematics is novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
