What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the impact of Vitamin C on preventing relapse after orthodontic treatment. It compares two methods of administration: local injections and oral supplements. The participants will be adults who have completed non-extraction orthodontic treatment using fixed appliances and have good oral hygiene. The study will monitor the effectiveness of Vitamin C in maintaining tooth positioning post-treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults who have completed non-extraction orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances and maintain good oral hygiene.
Not a fit: Patients with certain chronic diseases, those requiring specific types of retainers, or those who are pregnant or lactating may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new method to reduce orthodontic relapse, improving long-term treatment outcomes for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using Vitamin C for this purpose may be novel, similar studies on post-orthodontic treatment relapse have shown varying degrees of success with different interventions.
