What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on primary school children to assess their refractive errors and monitor those who are prescribed glasses for compliance. Visual acuity will be measured using an autorefractometer after administering cycloplegic eye drops three times. Children who require corrective lenses will be identified, and their adherence to wearing glasses will be followed up over time. The study aims to gather data on the prevalence of refractive errors in this age group and the effectiveness of corrective measures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are primary school students under 12 years old without any sensory defects.

Not a fit: Patients with corneal opacity or abnormal fundus lesions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve early detection and management of vision problems in children, enhancing their educational outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Similar studies have shown success in identifying refractive errors in children, indicating that this approach is supported by existing research.
