What this trial studies
This study evaluates the vestibular effects of gamma-knife radiosurgery in patients with vestibular schwannoma, a benign tumor affecting the vestibulocochlear nerve. It aims to assess how this treatment impacts vestibular function over time. Participants will undergo vestibular examinations to monitor changes following their radiosurgery. The study includes adults aged 18 to 90 who have received this specific treatment and are affiliated with a French social security scheme.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are men and women aged 18 to 90 who have undergone gamma-knife radiosurgery for vestibular schwannoma.
Not a fit: Patients with other vestibular pathologies or those who did not have a vestibular assessment prior to treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the effectiveness of gamma-knife radiosurgery in preserving or improving vestibular function in patients with vestibular schwannoma.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on gamma-knife radiosurgery for vestibular schwannoma, the specific focus on vestibular function post-treatment is less common, making this approach somewhat novel.
