What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the relationship between unhealthy perfectionism, stress, anxiety, and the impostor phenomenon in patients with various skin diseases and pain syndromes. By utilizing validated questionnaires and targeted interventions over a period of five to ten weeks, the researchers will map the occurrence of these psychological factors and their impact on symptom management and treatment outcomes. The study focuses on conditions such as dermatoses, vestibulodynia, and hyperhidrosis, with the hypothesis that these psychological factors are interconnected with the patients' physical health. Participants will remain anonymous through coded responses to ensure confidentiality.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients attending the Department of Dermatology and Venereology who have been diagnosed with a dermatological disease.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those unable to read or speak Swedish may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies for patients suffering from skin diseases and pain by addressing underlying psychological factors.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of mapping the impostor phenomenon in relation to dermatological conditions is novel, similar studies have shown success in addressing psychological factors in chronic pain management.
