What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess how genetic mutations influence behavioral and cognitive outcomes in patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD). Over a period of five years, participants will undergo initial and annual follow-up assessments using clinical examinations, standardized scales, and questionnaires. The study will compare data from patients with genetic mutations to those without, providing insights into the role of genetics in PD. The findings could significantly enhance clinical care for PD patients by tailoring approaches based on genetic profiles.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease who are currently using dopaminergic medication and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of Parkinson's disease based on genetic factors.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored genetic factors in Parkinson's disease, but this specific approach focusing on behavioral and cognitive outcomes is relatively novel.
