Evaluating the impact of conditioning on physical activity in cardiac rehabilitation patients

Effect of Evaluative Conditioning on the Intensity of Physical Activity of Patients in a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Observational Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nīmes · NCT06795802

What this trial studies

This study investigates how evaluative conditioning can enhance the intensity of physical activity among patients recovering from a myocardial infarction. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving conditioning focused on physical activity and the other on diet. The primary goal is to assess whether those in the physical activity group will show greater intensity during exercise sessions on an ergocycle and improved implicit attitudes towards physical activity. The study aims to address barriers to sustained physical activity in post-myocardial infarction patients, potentially leading to better rehabilitation outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18 to 75 who are within six months post-myocardial infarction and able to provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients with disabilities that prevent them from performing physical tasks or those unable to give informed consent may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve physical activity levels and overall cardiovascular health in post-myocardial infarction patients.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of evaluative conditioning in this context may be novel, there is existing evidence supporting the effectiveness of behavioral interventions in promoting physical activity among cardiac patients.
