What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the prognostic significance of a neuro-vascular examination combined with cerebral MRI in patients diagnosed with infectious endocarditis. It focuses on understanding how brain imaging can reveal ischemic lesions and microbleeds, which may influence treatment decisions. The study seeks to involve vascular neurologists in the management of these patients, addressing the current gap in neurological data related to infectious endocarditis. By creating a neurological cohort, the research aims to clarify the role of neurological assessments in improving patient outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients diagnosed with infectious endocarditis according to the Dukes Criteria.

Not a fit: Patients who are admitted for neurovascular emergencies or have contraindications for MRI will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the management and treatment strategies for patients with infectious endocarditis, potentially reducing complications such as stroke.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific combination of neuro-vascular assessments and MRI in this context, the study addresses a significant gap in existing literature, suggesting a novel approach.
