Evaluating the height of gum tissue between dental implants
Clinical Evaluation of Vertical Inter-implant Papilla Height in Platform Matched Implants in Comparison to Morse Connection Abutments: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
NA · Cairo University · NCT03787355
This study is testing whether the type of connection between dental implants affects the height of gum tissue and overall health around the implants for patients getting new dental work.

What this trial studies
This clinical evaluation focuses on the height of inter-implant papilla in patients receiving platform-matched implants compared to those with Morse connection abutments. The study aims to assess the relationship between inter-implant mucosa fill and the distance between adjacent implants, as well as the impact of different implant-abutment connections on bone loss and soft tissue health. Patients will undergo thorough clinical examinations and imaging to ensure they meet the criteria for participation before being randomly assigned to one of the two intervention groups. The study will be conducted at Cairo University's Oral Medicine and Periodontology department.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are systemically healthy individuals with good oral hygiene who are missing at least two neighboring maxillary teeth and can commit to a follow-up period of over one year.
Not a fit: Patients with vertically deficient ridges, smokers, pregnant females, or those with a thin biotype may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the predictability of gum tissue health around dental implants, leading to better aesthetic and functional outcomes for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated a relationship between inter-implant distance and mucosa fill, suggesting that this approach may have a foundation in existing research.
