What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the impact of physical and occupational therapy consultations for patients admitted for bone marrow transplantation (BMT). It will analyze whether these consultations can lead to fewer complications, reduced morbidity, shorter hospital stays, lower 30-day readmission rates, and decreased 90-day mortality. The study will collect baseline data and will include both retrospective and prospective elements to evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy consultations. It is conducted at a single site, focusing on a specific patient population undergoing BMT.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled to receive a bone marrow transplant.
Not a fit: Patients who have not been admitted for a bone marrow transplant will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve recovery outcomes and quality of life for patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and may have been explored in other contexts, the specific combination of physical and occupational therapy for BMT patients is relatively novel.
