What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how negative pressure ventilation impacts hemodynamics and lung function in adults who have undergone cardiac surgery. It focuses on measuring the performance of both the left and right heart as well as respiratory outcomes. The study involves patients who have a pulmonary artery catheter in place post-surgery to monitor these effects. The methodology includes careful observation and data collection on cardiac output and ventilatory parameters.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults who have had cardiac surgery and have a pulmonary artery catheter in place.

Not a fit: Patients who have undergone minimally invasive surgery or are in unstable conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve post-operative care and recovery for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited information on similar studies, the approach of using negative pressure ventilation in post-operative settings has shown promise in other contexts.
