Evaluating the effects of NB-UVB and Methotrexate on serum gelsolin levels in psoriasis patients
Evaluation The Effect of NB-UVB and Methotrexate on The Level of Serum Gelsolin in Psoriatic Patients
This study is testing whether narrowband UVB therapy and methotrexate can change the levels of a protein called gelsolin in people with moderate to severe psoriasis to see if it helps improve their symptoms.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of narrowband UVB phototherapy and methotrexate on serum gelsolin levels in patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Gelsolin is a protein that plays a crucial role in regulating the cytoskeleton and is linked to the severity of psoriasis. By assessing changes in gelsolin levels, the study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these treatments in managing psoriasis symptoms and improving patient outcomes. The research will involve patients who meet specific inclusion criteria and will exclude those with certain health conditions or recent treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis who have not received systemic or biological treatments in the past three months.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic diseases such as hepatic disorders, hematologic diseases, chronic renal failure, or cancer may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the role of gelsolin as a biomarker for psoriasis severity and treatment response.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of evaluating gelsolin levels in this context may be novel, previous studies have shown the effectiveness of NB-UVB and methotrexate in treating psoriasis.
