What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the impact of acromegaly on the morphology and functionality of hands and feet in patients. Utilizing a 3D scanning system, the study will measure the geometrical and volumetric characteristics of the extremities in both newly diagnosed patients and those with varying disease statuses. Additionally, gait analysis will be performed to evaluate posture and balance control during walking. The study seeks to provide insights into the physical alterations caused by acromegaly and the effects of medical or surgical therapies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who are newly diagnosed with acromegaly or have different disease statuses.

Not a fit: Patients with cardiorespiratory, neurological, or musculoskeletal disorders, or those who have had previous orthopedic surgery or lower limb traumatic injuries may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of acromegaly's impact on physical function, potentially leading to improved management strategies for affected patients.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on acromegaly, this specific approach using advanced 3D scanning and gait analysis is relatively novel.
