What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the impacts of a single session of robotic gait training using the Trexo device on individuals with physical disabilities, particularly those with cerebral palsy or other developmental disabilities. The research will explore how different settings of the Trexo robotic gait trainer affect various outcomes such as physical activity, walking ability, brain activity, spasticity, and fatigue. Participants will first undergo a fitting and familiarization session with the device before engaging in follow-up sessions to evaluate the effects of different training modes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals under 150 lbs and shorter than 5'7'' who have impaired walking ability due to neurological or muscular disorders.

Not a fit: Patients who exceed the weight or height limits or have medical contraindications to weight bearing will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance rehabilitation strategies for individuals with mobility impairments, leading to improved walking ability and overall physical activity.

How similar studies have performed: While early robotic gait training has shown benefits, the specific impacts of different settings on rehabilitation outcomes are still being explored, making this approach relatively novel.
