What this trial studies

This study aims to assess how well colonoscopy prescriptions align with established guidelines and their impact on diagnostic outcomes. By analyzing data from patients undergoing colonoscopy, the researchers intend to develop a predictive model that identifies individuals most likely to have significant lesions. This approach seeks to reduce unnecessary procedures, optimize resource use, and minimize patient risk. The study is conducted in an outpatient and inpatient setting, focusing on improving the efficiency of colonoscopy utilization.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults over 18 years old who are scheduled for outpatient or inpatient colonoscopy for any medical condition.

Not a fit: Patients requiring emergency colonoscopy procedures will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate colonoscopy prescriptions, reducing unnecessary procedures and associated healthcare costs.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that appropriate colonoscopy indications correlate with better diagnostic outcomes, suggesting this approach has merit.
