Evaluating the anion gap's ability to predict heart events in STEMI patients
The Prognostic Value of Anion Gap in Predicting Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events Among Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
This study is testing if the anion gap can help predict serious heart problems in patients who have had a heart attack and received treatment to open their blocked arteries.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess how well the anion gap can predict major adverse cardiovascular events in patients diagnosed with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who have undergone primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). Researchers will analyze secondary data collected from hospital registries, including demographic information, clinical presentations, laboratory results, and angiography findings. The data will be processed using IBM SPSS Statistics v26 to identify any correlations between anion gap levels and patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 70 diagnosed with STEMI who have undergone PPCI.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of heart failure, cardiogenic shock, infections at presentation, pregnancy, or other causes of high anion gap levels may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve risk stratification and management of STEMI patients, potentially leading to better patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the prognostic value of the anion gap has been explored in various contexts, this specific application in STEMI patients is relatively novel.
