Evaluating the 6-Minute Stepper Test for Predicting Mortality in COPD
Evaluation of the Predictive Properties of the 6-Minute Stepper Test for Long-term Mortality in Patients with COPD
This study is trying to see if the 6-Minute Stepper Test can help predict how long people with COPD might live.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the predictive properties of the 6-Minute Stepper Test for mortality in individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It will analyze medical records of patients referred for pulmonary rehabilitation at the ADIR Association in France from 2015 to 2023. The study will collect various demographic and health-related data, including performance metrics from the stepper test, to determine the test's effectiveness in predicting 2-year and 5-year mortality rates. A receiver operator curve analysis will be conducted to identify the optimal threshold for predicting all-cause mortality based on test performance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with any stage of COPD who have been referred for pulmonary rehabilitation and completed a 6-Minute Stepper Test.
Not a fit: Patients under guardianship or legal supervision, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a reliable tool for predicting mortality in COPD patients, potentially guiding treatment and management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While the predictive properties of exercise tests in COPD have been explored, this specific approach using the 6-Minute Stepper Test for mortality prediction is relatively novel.
