Evaluating single cell mutations in lung cancer samples

Prospective Evaluation of Single Cell Mutations in a Panel of Known Oncogenes in NSCLC Surgical Specimens (TAP-NSCLC)

Observational University of Milano Bicocca · NCT06050278

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the feasibility of using the Tapestri method to analyze single cell mutations in known oncogenes from surgical specimens of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study will focus on understanding the genetic heterogeneity of NSCLC by examining tissue samples from patients at stages I to III. By tracing the clonal architecture and mutation timelines, the research seeks to prioritize molecular targets and identify evolutionary patterns that could influence treatment outcomes. The study will include a limited number of patients, and results will be shared through narrative reports rather than statistical analyses.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of operable NSCLC.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with unconfirmed NSCLC diagnoses will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance personalized treatment strategies for NSCLC patients by identifying key genetic alterations and their implications for therapy response.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of analyzing single cell mutations is gaining traction, this specific application using the Tapestri method in NSCLC is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
