What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on adolescents aged 13-24 with restrictive-type anorexia nervosa who are hospitalized for nutritional support. It aims to assess the differences in secretin hormone levels between patients who experience excessive urine output and those who do not. Participants will undergo an additional blood draw before and after a meal, along with providing a urine sample post-meal. The study will also utilize information from the patients' medical records to gather comprehensive data.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 13-24 diagnosed with restrictive-type anorexia nervosa who are hospitalized for nutritional support.

Not a fit: Patients with underlying metabolic disorders or those on certain medications may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management of anorexia nervosa by understanding the role of secretin in urine output and acid-base handling.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of evaluating secretin in this context may be novel, similar studies have explored hormonal influences in anorexia nervosa with varying degrees of success.
