Evaluating right ventricular function during general anesthesia
Prediction of TAPSE/PASP Ratio for Hypotension Due to General Anesthesia Induction
This study is testing how well the right side of the heart works during general anesthesia to see if it can help predict low blood pressure in patients having surgery.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the risk of hypotension in patients undergoing general anesthesia by measuring right ventricular function using TAPSE and PASP parameters. Patients aged 18-75, who are hemodynamically stable and scheduled for surgery, will undergo transthoracic echocardiography before anesthesia induction. Hemodynamic parameters will be monitored closely after induction to identify those who experience significant drops in blood pressure. The study will categorize patients into groups based on the occurrence of hypotension during the procedure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-75 with ASA Physical Status 1-3 who are scheduled for surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have severe pulmonary hypertension, or are classified as ASA Physical Status IV or V may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify patients at risk for hypotensive events during surgery, potentially improving perioperative management and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using TAPSE and PASP in this context may be novel, similar studies have shown the importance of monitoring right ventricular function in surgical settings.
