What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the macular vascular density in patients with high myopia who do not have pathological myopic maculopathy. It is a cross-sectional observational study involving approximately 50 patients attending the ophthalmology outpatient clinic at Sohag Teaching Hospital. The evaluation will be conducted using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to provide insights into retinal blood flow in this specific patient population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with axial high myopia of -6 spherical refractive error or more, without any other ocular or systemic diseases affecting ocular circulation.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of ocular diseases, previous intraocular surgeries, or those with pathological myopic maculopathy will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of retinal health in high myopia, potentially leading to better management strategies for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on retinal vascular density in myopia, this specific approach using OCTA in high myopia without pathological conditions is relatively novel.
