Evaluating respiratory function in patients with prior COVID-19 before lung surgery
Multifactorial Evaluation of COVID-19 Respiratory Reliquates

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the effectiveness of various diagnostic tools used in preoperative evaluations for thoracic surgery in identifying lung damage caused by previous SARS-CoV-2 infections. The study will collect data through imaging techniques such as lung CT and ultrasound, along with arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests. By analyzing these factors, the researchers hope to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on respiratory health in patients awaiting lung resection surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who have had a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection and are awaiting lung resection surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18 years old, unable to provide consent, or refuse to enroll will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve preoperative assessments and surgical outcomes for patients with a history of COVID-19.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into the effects of COVID-19 on lung function, this specific multifactorial evaluation approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
