Evaluating predictors for successful hallux valgus surgery outcomes
Hallux Valgus - Radiological and Clinical Predictors for Outcome After Surgery
Ostfold Hospital Trust · NCT04851249

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to identify clinical and radiological predictors that influence the outcomes of corrective surgery for hallux valgus, a common foot deformity. It will involve adult patients scheduled for surgery at Østfold Hospital Trust, utilizing advanced imaging techniques to assess the three-dimensional nature of the deformity. The study seeks to improve understanding of the factors that contribute to surgical success or failure, addressing the high recurrence rates associated with current treatment methods.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients with mild to severe hallux valgus who are scheduled for corrective surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone hallux valgus surgery on the same foot or those with language barriers may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced recurrence rates for patients undergoing hallux valgus correction.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies focusing on hallux valgus surgery, this approach of evaluating three-dimensional predictors is relatively novel.
