What this trial studies
This project investigates the effectiveness of School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SW-PBIS) programs on students' social-emotional skills and academic achievement, as well as the perceptions of teachers and students regarding their learning environment. The study employs a quasi-experimental design, collecting data from intervention and control schools to assess the impact of SW-PBIS. Additionally, it explores how school-level factors may influence the outcomes and includes a qualitative evaluation of the interactions during program implementation. The research aims to provide insights into the dynamics of behavior management in educational settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are students in grades 4-9 from schools that have not previously implemented SWPBIS programs.
Not a fit: Students from grades outside of 4-9 or those attending schools that have previously participated in SWPBIS programs may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance students' social-emotional skills and academic performance while improving the overall school climate.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive effects of SW-PBIS programs in various contexts, although fewer have been conducted in Europe, making this approach somewhat novel in that region.
