Evaluating plantar pressures after foot and ankle surgeries

Biomechanical Functional Evaluation of Plantar Pressures After Foot and Ankle Surgeries

NA · Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli · NCT06090357

What this trial studies

This study evaluates the biomechanical functional outcomes of various surgical treatments for foot and ankle conditions by measuring plantar pressures. It aims to objectively assess recovery through advanced techniques such as gait analysis and the use of specialized equipment like baropodometric platforms. By focusing on plantar pressures, the study seeks to provide new insights into functional and biomechanical recovery post-surgery. This is the first time such evaluations will be documented in the literature.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18-75 who require surgical intervention for foot and ankle issues and can commit to follow-up assessments.

Not a fit: Patients with severe postural instability or cognitive deficits may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved assessment methods for recovery after foot and ankle surgeries, enhancing patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While biomechanical assessments are common, this specific focus on plantar pressures post-surgery is novel and has not been widely tested in previous studies.
