Evaluating pelvic MRI for unclear ovarian masses
Characterization of Ovarian Masses Unable to Classify With Gynecological Ultrasonography: Value of Pelvic MRI With Perfusion- and Diffusion-weighted Imaging

What this trial studies
This study aims to prospectively assess the effectiveness of pelvic MRI, including diffusion- and perfusion-weighted imaging, in women with ovarian masses that cannot be classified through gynecological ultrasound. By focusing on patients with undetermined ovarian masses, the study seeks to provide clearer diagnostic insights that could guide treatment decisions. The methodology involves performing pelvic MRI on eligible participants to gather data on the characteristics of their ovarian masses.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women who have an adnexal mass that remains undetermined after gynecological ultrasound.
Not a fit: Patients with lesions that have a definite diagnosis from gynecological ultrasound or those who cannot undergo MRI will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve diagnostic accuracy for women with unclear ovarian masses, leading to better treatment outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using pelvic MRI for this purpose may be novel, similar imaging techniques have shown promise in enhancing diagnostic accuracy in other contexts.
