What this trial studies

This observational study investigates how preoperative pain catastrophizing affects the amount of analgesia used during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Patients will complete assessments of pain catastrophizing, depression, and anxiety before surgery. During the operation, their analgesia will be monitored and adjusted based on their pain levels. The study aims to find correlations between psychological factors and pain management outcomes.

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy with ASA scores of I-III and Turkish literacy skills.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing emergency laparoscopic cholecystectomy or those unwilling to participate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored the relationship between psychological factors and pain management, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
