What this trial studies
This study assesses the nutritional status of patients with resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma, focusing on the prevalence of malnutrition and its effects on perioperative outcomes. It aims to evaluate current management practices for nutritional support during the perioperative period, which often lack coordination and specific protocols. The findings will inform future interventional studies to explore various artificial nutrition modalities tailored to these patients' needs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older with a confirmed diagnosis of resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma who are scheduled for curative surgical treatment.
Not a fit: Patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma or those not eligible for curative surgery will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved nutritional management strategies that enhance recovery and reduce complications for patients undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, previous studies have indicated the importance of nutritional management in cancer care, suggesting potential for success.
