What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the effectiveness of conservative treatments for urinary incontinence in women by examining their impact on symptoms and quality of life. The study will utilize both subjective and objective measures, including self-reported symptoms, bladder diaries, pad tests, and urodynamic studies to evaluate improvements. The focus is on first-line treatments such as behavioral therapy and pelvic floor muscle training, which are recommended to avoid the complications and costs associated with surgical options.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult women diagnosed with urinary incontinence who have undergone non-surgical treatment at Mackay Memorial Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients who have opted for invasive or surgical treatments for urinary incontinence will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into effective non-surgical treatment options for women suffering from urinary incontinence.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that conservative treatments, particularly pelvic floor muscle training, can be effective for managing urinary incontinence, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
