What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the impact of Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) on muscle strength and gait parameters in patients with end-stage osteoarthritis. It aims to identify modifiable factors that may affect knee function post-surgery, focusing on the relationship between lower limb muscle strength and gait biomechanics. Patient-reported outcomes will be assessed using the Oxford Knee Score (OKS) and the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS) questionnaires to evaluate changes in physical function after TKA.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals over 50 years old with grade III or IV knee osteoarthritis who can provide signed consent.

Not a fit: Patients who have undergone total hip replacement, have significant lower limb deformities, or have active chronic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help improve rehabilitation strategies for patients undergoing knee replacement surgery, leading to better functional outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that addressing muscle strength and gait biomechanics can lead to improved outcomes after knee surgeries, suggesting this approach is promising.
